"But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks." ~ Ephesians 5:3, 4
The verse I want to focus on is verse 4, which starts at the word "neither". It is so, so easy to get in trouble with our tongues. We say something "funny" without first considering if it is more hurtful than humorous. We talk about evil things that other people participate in without realizing that we are just polluting our own hearts by thinking about it. And, I am pretty sure we are all guilty of talking as if we know it all about something, only to find out later that we were completely wrong (yeah, that is totally embarrassing!).
God names off all these things He doesn't want His children accused of participating in, and then He says one thing that SHOULD be named among us - giving of thanks. So simple, yet so profound.
Would people label us as thankful girls? That's what God desires the world to see in you - a grateful heart.

Bible Reading: Proverbs 13, Philippians 3

My mouth always works faster than my mind can keep up! It's not always easy learning what is appropriate because sometimes we learn by being embarrassed, like Mrs. Lois said. I guarantee though that those lessons that I have learned by being embarrassed are the ones that are not as easily forgotten.
