Tongue-Talk Tuesday

Don't you hate a tattletale?  It's pretty annoying when you think you've gotten away with something or glided past your embarrassing moment, only to hear your sister or brother later "tattling" to someone about your mistake.  There's just something so irritating about tattling!

The sermon (that inspired these posts) I mentioned a few weeks ago was called "The Tongue: the Tattletale of the Heart."  Wow - did you ever think of your tongue as the worst tattletale you know?  The tongue is the revealer of who you truly are.  Sure, people sometimes lie and try to talk themselves up good --- but Jesus said "A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh" (Luke 6:45).

What is in our hearts comes out in our speech, eventually, in one way or another.  We might be better at hiding it than some, but rest assured - Jesus knows what He was talking about.  What's inside of us does come out.

  1. This is very true. Usually if our heart is hiding something we are the ones that reveal it.
