Walking On Wednesday

"Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying."Romans 13:13

"Let us walk honestly..." - that's pretty easy to understand.  If we have a habit of living life how we want though, it might not be so easy to live out that statement.  But you know what?  Today is a new day; today is a new opportunity to glorify God with our lives!

One of the reasons our walk is so important is that the younger girls in the church are watching us.  I have seen it happen time and time again that they fix their hair "just like __________" or put an outfit together just like __________ would wear.  Besides these more obvious ways the younger girls mimic us, they are listening closely to what we say and how we say it.  They are watching when we disrespect each other or get too comfortable with the guys...and then they do the exact same thing we are doing.

Wouldn't it be great for the younger girls to mimic the way we glorify Christ?  This will be possible only when glorifying Christ is on our minds more than other things are.

  1. I've heard some young ladies (and older ones, too!) express regret because they feel like their lives are on display and that they always have to act "just so". Trying to "play the part"---any part---is burdensome and spiritually heavy. We must remember that we are not role playing; we are not just trying to "act" a certain way. Rather, we ought to be seeking to be conformed into the image of Christ. When we are conformed to the image of Christ, our walk will come naturally and what others are seeing will be something real. Instead of feeling pressured to act a certain way, we will feel honored that someone sees Christ in us and is seeking to imitate that.
